Ok, the wife and I aren't artists!!!
But I think that was probably already obvious to folks... So I am actively seeking someone that would like to volunteer to work on the site design. We don't charge for anything here on the site and the few ads we do run hardly cover the hosting so we don't have a lot to spend on the site.

I have found an EXCELLENT wordpress theme for the blog you can see it here! I'd love to have that ported over to the main site, but don't have the time to figure it out but that or something very similar would be great! All credits and copyrights to that theme would remain in place as the artist has done an excellent job and deserves the credit! So if your interested let me know!

Forgot what?
OK, I've been working hard on the back end software that runs the site for close to a week now and its boggling me the amount of knowledge I have lost. You see, I suffer from Post-Concussion-Syndrome. Let me explain about the pumpkin (not my head).

Last year, a few days before All Hallows, me being dad and all, was carving the family pumpkin, after my much beloved artist (The Teenager) had carefully drawn up the pumpkin with what I would be required to cut, as I am far from artsy that was her job.

To the best of my recollection the pumpkin was quite large, but nothing for me to handle as I was in excellent physical shape. So, I started hacking away with a myriad assortment of knives, getting the seeds out (to be roasted later of course!) and starting on the design my daughter had made on the target.

Here's where things start to get a little fuzzy for me, but I will give you what I know now to be true. There came a critical point in the hacking away that I needed to have a good close look at what I was doing, so I stood up with the pumpkin in both hands and held it under the kitchen chandelier turning and inspecting the pumpkin.

Somewhere in the oh... 20-30 seconds of my inspection, the wife had walked behind me and inadvertently pushed my chair out away from behind me. Of course now that I'm done with my inspection I need to sit back down! You guessed it, the chair was gone!

Now, I will be the first to admit that I have yanked many a chair in my younger days and have been the subject of many a chair yank, as well, so I would never have believed the consequences of this seemingly innocent move on the wife before it happened.

From that point, the only memory I have is that of very bright lights going off in my head and a searing heat running from my backside to the top of my head. A few ER visits and a careful inspection in the kitchen later reveal that I sustained a severe concussion from a) my head hitting a bookcase behind me and b) the subsequent head snap forward after the impact. I also sustained a ruptured vertebrate in my neck and a bulging disc in my back. That was the easy part.

This is when I found out how much my wife REALLY loved me.

It took a few days for us to realize it, but my memory was working in about a 3 day cycle....if it was more than 3 days old it may have well never happened. I simply didn't remember. This went on for ... well I'm not sure how long, but I do know it was too long. I still have some short-term memory issues, but whats troubling me the most is what I no longer know.

Things like html and css used to be fairly trivial to me; I was self taught, and was quite good at building and maintaining websites. So when we decided to finally start developing this site I didn't think it was going to be a big deal. It's turning out to be huge! Most of what I knew is just gone. I go back and look and code I had written before and it boggles me. It comes back in pieces now but I have a long way to go to get back to where I was.

This website means a great deal to me and I am determined to give people the tools that we have learned and teach you how to apply them in your marriage on a daily basis but I think it's going to take me longer than I initially thought to "get into the groove", so to speak. So if you see a menu jumping around, or the site splitting and being 3 pages wide instead of one, rest assured its just me cussing at that doggone pumpkin.

Site is live!
Tues,Sept 4th
Today the site is going live; and no, it's not anywhere near complete. However, it's much easier to develop live than it is to work on it shut down, so here it is!

What's on display today is a minuscule sample of what the future holds for members at fantasticmarriage.com. My wife and I, as well as guest writers, are going to be working diligently to put out quality content dedicated to improving marriages and lowering our nation's divorce rate.

We welcome comments and suggestions on the entire site - everything here is, and always will be, a "work in progress". Just like a marriage, there no simple fix that will make it "done"; it's a constantly evolving process of communication.

Please aid us in our mission to serve you by registering for membership, and giving us your input on how to make the site better and how we can help you! Membership is, and will remain, free thanks to our advertisers and affiliates.

I will be working on the resources and forums today specifically as well as teaching the wife how to "drive this baby" .

Thank you for joining us! We look forward to the journey.
